Arun Jose’s lecture on Machine Data Analytics (Internet of Things or IoT) was our most futuristic guest lecture ever and you could feel the rising undercurrent of anticipation, excitement & enthusiasm sweeping through the classroom. It was also exciting for us to have Arun address our students, as he has previously worked with Redwood Associates, the parent company of ATI in a strategic role.

HR Analytics and warehousing enable organizations to get meaningful insights from HR data collected from various enterprise-wide HR and non-HR systems. Human Resources have long been looked at as a touchy-feely business. The stereotype of its practitioners is that they give warm and fuzzy answers to most business queries. While they put Talent Management as a priority, yet they lack the analytical tools to be able to deliver the agenda. As Zach Thomas of Forrester says, “Forward-looking analytics that push well beyond traditional metrics are the cornerstone of this effort.

It won’t be an exaggeration to say that most new innovations in the world these days stem from analytics. Analytics has moved beyond the realm of just customer relationship management and web analytics and become a central department in corporations across all industries.

Over the past several years, manufacturers have made significant investments in systems that collect, manage, and report data about their processes. All of these systems, from DCS and SCADA/HMI on the plant floor, to manufacturing execution (MES), laboratory (LIMS), supply chain (SCM) and enterprise (ERP) applications either create, collect, store, use, or interact with data that represents or affects some element of the manufacturing process.

Marketing analytics is the process of identifying potential consumers of a product or service, the size of the group, and the percentage of the market that could be captured, considering costs and competition. In terms of e-commerce, it can be defined as a process through which one identifies online market value, competition and marketing strategies among other things.
